The first Nordic Defence Acquisition Summit was held on August 21–22 in Oslo, Norway. Organizers were Norwegian Defence Materiel Acquisition Organization (NDMA) and CAG Syntell AS.
Participating at the event where representatives from NDMA Norway, FDFLOGCOM Finland and DALO Denmark. Guest speakers were NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) General Manager Ms. Stacy Cummings, Mr. Mark Krzysko from US Department of Defence and Dr. Dinesh Verma, General Manager of the US Acquisition, Innovation research Center (AIRC). The purpose of the event was to exchange experience on how to conduct effective defence acquisition. One specific topic at the summit was the role of data and digital transformation to drive innovation and agility in acquisition.
– The event was inspired by a NORDEFCO event in 2022 where one of the generals said, “We need to buy more, faster and with low risk”. It was interesting to hear how the Nordic countries achieve this through different methods, tools, and strategies. It was especially interesting to hear the General Manager of NSPA talk about how the role of their organisation has changed since the war in Ukraine and how NSPA can support acquisition for NATO members, says Arto Alnehäll at CAG Syntell AS.
